Volunteer Opportunities for the 2025 Land O’ Lakes Competition Season

As the 2025 Land O’ Lakes competition season begins, we are excited to welcome everyone to our upcoming events. To ensure everything runs smoothly, we need your help!

There are several key volunteer roles available across the Land O’ Lakes region and its programs. Some positions are urgent and require immediate attention, while others are vital but can be filled before the 2026 season. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please reach out to me.

1. Emergency Services Staff & Chief (Road Racing)
These positions require prior experience and training, but we can provide the necessary preparation. Emergency Services staff are responsible for responding to racing incidents both on and off the track.

2. Race Chair
This multifaceted role oversees nearly every aspect of organizing a road race, from track rentals to volunteer coordination. Although complex, we offer training to help you succeed in this role.

3. Flagging & Communications (F&C) Assistant Chief
This position ensures that all F&C roles are filled and that volunteers have the necessary resources to stay safe while conveying critical information to drivers and race control. The Assistant Chief may also be trained to step into the Chief role.

4. Registration Assistant Chief
This volunteer assists in ensuring all participants complete the registration process before the event. The position also provides training to eventually move into the Chief role.

5. Social Media Committee Member
Help us grow our social media presence by posting event updates, race results, and photos.

6. Gopher
The Gopher handles the trailer, distributes, and picks up corner equipment on Saturday morning and Sunday evening. Additional responsibilities include delivering ice to the tower and assisting with miscellaneous tasks.

7. Hospitality Chief
Responsible for ensuring that meals and snacks are set out and that the facility is prepared for gatherings. Your duties include making sure everything is ready – even getting the beer cold!

8. Chief of Tech
The Chief of Tech manages tech inspection at the track and coordinates annual tech inspections, which may take place at racers’ shops or during an annual tech day. We also need more volunteers for tech inspections.

9. Timing & Scoring
We need more help in this area! This role involves working with the transponder system, reporting times to racers and volunteers, and posting results after events.

10. Safety Stewards (Road Rally & RallyCross)
We need volunteers to serve as safety stewards. Online training is available, followed by shadowing a licensed safety steward for two events to obtain certification.

11. Trophy Chair (Road Racing)
The Trophy Chair is responsible for organizing and distributing trophies at events, as well as arranging the year-end awards.

12. Starters
Starters assist with the start and finish of races. This role is similar to F&C but focused on the start/finish positions.

13. Visibility Chair
Help increase our region’s visibility by promoting our programs at car shows, Cars and Coffee, trade schools, cruise nights, and more.

14. Pits & Grid Volunteers
These volunteers help line up race cars in the correct order, ensuring that drivers and vehicles are ready to enter the track safely.

15. Archivist
We need an archivist to manage our region’s race car logbook records. This person will consolidate past records into a single format and explore ways to convert them into digital formats as new technology becomes available.

16. Banquet Committee Member
Join the team that plans our annual banquet. Committee members help choose the venue, plan the menu, manage registration, coordinate special activities, and create the program.

Your support is crucial to the success of our events, and we greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you for considering these opportunities!
